Starting in the fall semester of 2022, City of Refuge began providing violin lessons for 10-20 children in families that we serve. Weekly group lessons will be provided by Siri Geenen, a Suzuki teacher in our community since 2000, and the 2019 Missouri String Teacher’s Association studio teacher of the year. Students are coached one on one by advanced youth musicians from our community under Siri’s supervision.

Help us Continue our Strings Programs!

Lessons take place in the City of Refuge building on a weekly basis. There are also enrichment opportunities such as demonstrations from coaches and visits from chamber groups in our local youth orchestras.

We provide all lessons, instruments, books, stands, and other necessary accessories free to these students. Your donation will assist us in this goal, and donors will be invited to attend a year-end recital celebrating what these new students have accomplished. Money donated from this page will go to the strings program, which will not draw money from City of Refuge’s main funds.

We are excited to begin this musical journey with City of Refuge kids, and we invite you to take part with a donation!
